The Romantic
“On his first solo album in a decade, the superstar nods to Seventies R&B and his Latin roots, while making the case that his precision-tuned throwback-pop vision is endearing in any moment”
The Romantic
“more soulful bops from pop’s silver-tongued loverman”
Unorthodox Jukebox
“Bruno Mars doesn't do low stakes. He is a drama king, a man who thrives on grand statements, soap-opera plotlines and actual-opera melodrama. On his second album, Mars sings endlessly about sex – wild, wind-swept, Wagnerian sex. The smuttiest song here, "Gorilla," has a backbeat that would make Mutt Lange quake in his boots and a lyric that R. Kelly would kill to have written: "You're bangin' on ”

“Bruno's latest effort is packed with gorgeous instrumentation but has very, very little to say”
Doo-Wops & Hooligans
“Turn on your radio. Hear that voice, a feathery tenor with a hint of soulful grit? It belongs to Bruno Mars, the 25-year-old Hawaiian newcomer featured on smash hits like B.o.B’s "Nothin’ on You" and Travie McCoy’s "Billionaire." Doo-Wops & Hooligans proves that Mars is a natural — a lavishly gifted melodist (check the surging […]”

“The nine songs on the pop showman’s first album in a decade are sleek and professional, but are so risk-averse that they mostly just sound like other, more well-known songs.”

“Bruno Mars keeps it tight and intentional on The Romantic, and honestly, I respect that it’s only nine tracks. In a streaming era where albums feel bloated just to chase numbers, this one feels curated. There’s no obvious filler because every song has a purpose, a mood, a little bit of silk stitched into it. The production is pristine. Live instrumentation, warm basslines, shimmering synths, and those signature falsetto runs remind you why Bruno is still one of the most polished performers out there. The cohesion is what really stands out. It plays like one smooth late-night set rather than a random playlist of love songs. Do I wish he pushed the sound a little further? Maybe. He stays comfortably in that retro-funk and R&B pocket he’s mastered. But within those nine tracks, the quality control is undeniable. The Romantic doesn’t overstay its welcome, and sometimes leaving you wanting just a little more is part of the charm.”

“Another solid album from Bruno. All the songs sound amazing obviously with Bruno’s singing (which are never gonna miss) only issue being is that the songs all sound really similar. I feel like after 10 years since his last solo album he could have adventured more and changed things up a bit. Top Songs are “Risk It All” “God Was Showing Off” “Why You Wanna Fight?” “On My Soul” “Dance With Me””
The Romantic
“It a Bruno classic. The album is for vocalist and general listeners. I don't expect Bruno to change the game cause that's not his thing so i that doesn't bother me. Bruno really sang his heart out in the album and i appreciate that.”
