Get Yer Body Next Ta Mine
“Coachwhips' second album showcased a band that seemed happy to take the piss out of their own garage-rock shamble now suddenly finding their swagger. This remixed and remastered reissue doesn’t appreciably change the experience of hearing it, but it does signal the fact that the bandleader and current Thee Oh Sees frontman, John Dwyer, has started taking Coachwhips’ legacy a little more seriously.”
Hands on the Controls
“The reissue of the joyfully spastic debut album by the Coachwhips, John Dwyer's band prior to Thee Oh Sees, offers the group's 2002 collection on vinyl for the first time, along with six bonus tracks. Viewed in its original context, Hands on the Controls can be seen as an emergency retoxification of garage rock in the wake of the Strokes and the White Stripes.”
Double Death
“San Francisco band's posthumous double release of odds and sods sounds like the scorched remains of a searing, gung-ho noise-punk career.”
