One On One
“The insert for *One on One*, the new offering from Mira Calix (aka female DJ Chantal Passamonte), depicts a silver-eyed alien standing in a deserted forest, occupied only by trees, a white moon, and the alien himself. The jewel case's back insert depicts a small girl standing alone on a beach, surrounded only by sand, sky, and water. They're fitting images for the record-- *One on One* is an album”
Prickle - EP
“Why wouldn't you take Mira Calix seriously? Granted, her work generally sees favorable reviews, but I've seen a lot of offhand comments from IDM kids who dismiss her because she used to work as press secretary for Warp. It's clear even from her small discography as DJ and composer that Chantal Passamonte isn't trying to be the female Aphex Twin, regardless of how many have made that comparison. Ri”
Skimskitta
“Last time I saw Chantal Passamonte was in a club in Valencia, Spain. She held a thin flashlight between her lips as she meshed together the moaning Bowie choir from side two of *Low* with the percussive thumps of her Warp labelmates, Boards of Canada. It was a wonderfully woozy night, and she DJed with a deft touch, moving in and out of the vinyl grooves, merging sundry vibes and keeping the heads”
Eyes Set Against the Sun
“DJ-turned-ambient enthusiast releases fourth full-length for Warp, inspired by classical themes and the processes of nature.”
