The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We
“The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We finds Mitski at her most peaceful, hopeful, and, yes, loving.”
The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We
“Mitski returns crestfallen on the gruesome yet fantastical The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We”
The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We
“On her stirring and orchestral seventh album, Mitski blazes a glorious new trail and sounds freer than ever”
Be the Cowboy
“The fifth album from the singular songwriter is her greatest to date. From the music to her emotions, Mitski has the power to make the complex seem dazzlingly clear.”
Lush
“Lush is my favorite album ever. I’m a big fan of Mitski and I really truly relate to. Mitski does poetic songwriting incredibly well. Lush is somehow both raw and beautifully refined. One of my favorite tracks is Bag of Bones. In my perspective, the track dives into sexual relationships and feeling disconnected from them entirely. The idea of having sex and feeling used after. He “illuminates her pores” and “tears her apart” but she has this connection she doesn’t want to break and I just think this is incredibly beautiful and poetic. She also is losing her personality as well. “Do what you came here to do but first open up a window for me” She is so disconnected from this sexual relationship but she stays in it because she can’t leave. Overall Lush, as an album, dives into toxic relationships, toxic gender roles, and toxic emotional baggage. It’s by far my favorite Mitski album and I have nearly every album on vinyl.”
Bury Me At Makeout Creek
“mitski really is my favorite artist. i can’t stress my love for her and her art. the guitar riffs, the vocals, the angst. this album personably asociable with my jump for adolescence to adulthood. i feel like this jump wasn’t graceful and came about in a quick and unpredictable way. it’s a super short album at only 30 minutes long but in those 30 minutes she is able to pack in so much meaning”
Be the Cowboy
“Mitski has insane vocals and some of her other works are more impressive to me, this album while good doesn’t amaze me as much as most, from the cliche lines to the almost not so great heartfelt lyrics, this album just wasn’t clicking for me and maybe that’s just me but I’m open to letting it grow on me with time”
Nothing's About to Happen to Me
“wow this is so disappointing favorite songs- where’s my phone? dead woman. charons obol.”
Nothing's About to Happen to Me
“I know the only way I’ll like this is if I force myself to Typical Mitski album”
