“Almost 22 years after My Bloody Valentine's last album, Kevin Shields has completed this stunning followup. What My Bloody Valentine have done is take the precise toolkit of Loveless and made another album with it, one that is stranger and darker and even harder to pin down.”

“As the world’s record-company giants consolidate into the mythical OmniVox Unicorp, pockets of independent-label resistance endure, even thrive, on the strength of artistic vision rather than unlimited capital. Since the mid-Eighties, London’s Creation Records has wielded a mighty influence on the trend-mad taste of young Britons, successfully promoting its characteristic breed of noisy pop as […]”

“This two-disc reissue (with bonus tracks) covers the incremental steps, in pained-pop song and wraparound guitar distortion that My Bloody Valentine took to the violent and defining rapture of their only studio albums so far, 1988’s Isn’t Anything and 1991’s Loveless (also reissued). “One of the most immersive and creative projects ever made. my bloody valentine pushed the boundaries of what rock music sounded like, crafting a sound that feels less like a collection of songs and more like a dream you slowly drift through. Although not being the first of its kind, this album put the genre of Shoegaze on the map. The album’s defining feature is its sound. Layers of heavily processed guitars blur together into walls of texture, creating the signature Shoegaze atmosphere. The instrumentation feels fluid, with melodies beneath waves of distortion and reverb. The vocals are soft, distant, and almost ghostlike, creating an intimate and surreal atmosphere. What makes this record so special is the blend between experimentation and beauty. Every aspect is complex and innovative, yet the songs themselves remain hypnotic. All of these elements combine to create not only an undeniable 10/10, but the greatest album ever in my book.”

“I like it. But I really don’t get the best of all time claims honestly.”
