I’ve been locked into Noah Kahan’s world since the Stick Season era, so going back to The Great Divide feels like rediscovering the roots of something that’s only gotten more powerful with time. There’s a quieter, more searching energy here, but deeply sincere. You can hear him figuring himself out in real time, leaning into themes of distance, identity, and emotional growing pains. Songs like these hit differently when you already know where he’s headed, because the vulnerability feels even more real. It may not have the refined punch of his later work, but the heart is undeniable.

For better or worse, Noah Kahan’s much-anticipated Stick Season follow-up delivers more songs about dead bugs, driving, copper mines, demarcated lines, driving, substance abuse, and cold weather.
