It’s time for the concrete boys latest mixtape review. Lil Yachty and the concrete boys are back with their latest mixtape “It’s Us Vol. 2”, following their Vol. 1 edition to the collection just 10 months ago. This mixtape delivers a triumphantly produced intro that transitions into a second half trap style beat. The first half delivers nice flows from ‘Draft Day’, followed by a verse by ‘Lil yachty’, catchy enough to be a hook. This project progresses with inspirational production, however, is complimented by artist performances that feel they could have served as demos for other artists, for a more complete song. While the project has a handful of catchy tracks, arguably that handful could be one of somebody who held a firecracker too long on the 4th of July, as only 2 to 3 songs out of 17 seem complete and even comprehendible. This couldve have been a decent 6-7 song mixtape, dailing in on the more charismatic and better flows on this record. However, it is a tough 55 minute listen altogether. Overall, the highs on this record im feeling are: Production: Production on most of this tape seems to be consistent, carrying most of the overall energy the project consumes. ALL THE SAME (feat. Lil Yachty & Veeze) Lil Yachty finds himself finding a nice groove infectious flow in this track, though he’s not talking about much. just a nice vibe at most with a sweet sample. PUSH IT (Lil Yachty & Draft day) Draft day seemed to be the Co-MVP of this tape standing next to the more ‘industry seasoned’, Yachty. Both Yachty & Draft day deliver on this track making it a high on the list. Honerable mention: IF I WASN’T RAPPIN’ (feat. Lil Yachty, Draft Day & Dc2trill. The lows: Most of this tape seems crammed, regardless of that seemingly being the point of a posse tape. There was intriguing production throughout the project, however artist performances almost did more harm than good. 17 Songs The duration of 55 minutes almost makes a top to bottom play impossible. this conceptual collection of songs from the collective failed to do much outside of a few songs I will MAYBE come back to. Overall. Im feeling a decent 3.8 for this project. Remember, its only been a week, opinions can change. Be Kind.
