KIDS SEE GHOSTS, Kanye West & Kid Cudi (2018)
“Who knew Wyoming could inspire this kind of music. There might not be another album that sounds exactly like the cover. Bright, psychedelic, and haunting. I’m not really sure what genre this is. You might be inclined to say hip-hop because it’s Kanye and Kid Cudi. But if you were to listen without prior knowledge of those two, you would have a hard time defining it. Pysch-Rock, minimalist folky guitars, 1930’s Christmas music, and a few bars. You can’t put Kanye in a box. This thing is closer to Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robot than his other collaboration Watch The Throne. The albums lyrics are centered around mental health. Positivity about getting better while acknowledging ones lifelong battle. Unfortunately Kanye has only declined in his journey. If Kanye’s career ceased after this, we’d be looking at a nearly perfect discography.”
