Electra Heart (Deluxe Version)
Marina and The Diamonds (2012)
“A monumental album in MARINA’s career, and it’s only the sophomore album. Electra Heart had aspirations of being a part of a double-album series coupled with an alter ego for the singer, however that was cancelled and we were merely given this album. BUT, what is left is truly a work of art. MARINA pokes at the corruptness of American female archetypes from a non-American viewpoint, and simultaneously re-introduces Americans to the electro-pop sound that she is well known for. I firmly feel this was one of the albums that drove pop music to be what it is today, by being fiercely bold, honest, and incredibly forward in a time where such criticisms on American culture were not happening as often, or on such a big stage.”
