A Tribe Called Quest (1996)
“Moderate 9 to 10”
“**Thoughts:** Running at 51 minutes, “Beats, Rhymes & Life” utilizes some of the best instrumentals and samples that I think the group has ever used, combined with some of the best flows and back-and-forth rapping that Q-Tip and Phife Dawg have done, along with amazing rapping from guest rapper Consequence. Underrated, and the album needs more recognition when it comes to the group’s best album. This is my personal favorite tribe album, and in my opinion their best album. **Loved track(s):** - Get A Hold - The Jam - Crew - 1nce Again - Mind Power - The Hop - Keeping It Moving - Separate/Together - What Really Goes On - Word Play - Stressed Out **Liked track(s):** - Phony Rappers - Motivators - The Pressure **Disliked track(s):** - Baby Phife’s Return ———————————————————————— **My Ranking Scale:** 10 = Perfect 9 = Exceptional 8 = Great 7 = Good 6 = Decent 5 = Average 4 = Below Average 3 = Poor 2 = Bad 1 = Awful 0 = Unlistenable *(p.s. While Wavelength support ratings in decimals, I only use whole-number scores. The score I give albums represents my opinion on the album’s general tier in alignment with the scale above, while my more accurate rating is in the review’s title)*”
