Purling Hiss started as the murky, fuzzed-out solo side-project of Mike Polizze, then the guitarist of Philadelphia free-form heavy rock outfit, Birds of Maya. War on Mars is the first record Polizze has done as part of a trio and also the first to be assembled in a professional studio.
