Not a review btw just thoughts: This album is being a sophomore album to 21st century blues, I fear u can't compare, it's about literally us and it acts as this warm hug to us, I've heard raye talked about the title after finishing or in the middle of it and reflecting on how the album will be for the listeners and how it may contain hope and what people might take something from it, I like how its like u may take something as in a choice, it's inviting u in, in this world they made, this place they built that's so polish perfect but there's still cracks where u can choose to exit or come back to anytime u want, it might be very polished but still let's u see behind the production and the people that made this world for u to experience, it's kinda severally giving the Truman show, this set that u live ur entire life in that was literally made for u is not real but what u felt was and ultimately looking back and appreciating what it has done and given u for u to take away what u want from it, looking at it through the lens of an album tho, it's perfect, also I wanna say what I noticed was this album is very raye, I can see more of her personality from deliveries of songs like I hate the way I look today, where she's singing in this cheerful jazzy old Hollywood tone and she's being real essentially, like talking about insecurities and the line about how im gonna just give this a try, it's very much the juxtapositions of Hollywood glamour to something very down to earth, these emotions that are kind of ugly and just pushing through, and u can hear that throught the record this falling apart but still singing along performing narrating her way through aesthetic, it's all the parts of her that was injected into this album, its inviting u to know parts of her and for people to take what u might love about it. I also know this behind the scenes, this is not mine it's yours now is kinda trendy like I see a lot of that in music lately in these 2 years and I wanna say this album doesn't come as something lyrically, ideally new this concept of 4 seasons have been done many times before, still tackled in so many things btw and is well written, heavily honest, just about being a woman and sisterhood, perception, the continuous journey of healing, just being a giver making these song universal for all of us, just sharing and it may be nothing new it still impactful and revolutionary yk and I know at least half of it is just the production alone, the orchestras the sound effects, it very much giving theatre play, it's showing u rain clouds, thunderstorms, these are very classic prop sets, there's definitely a layer of showing u more of what's behind the scenes for plays but how it sounds and how it feels, it's very much movie level budget we're getting, it's way more immersive, it feels real and I think that detail is so important to the creation to this themeing, that is definitely something u rarely or at least just me hear today, and the way u get to hear this orchestral music on Spotify as like this pop record, no ones doing it like raye (maybe there's this other person), and I just love how its kinda all over the place in a good way, how it's unstructured and just letting it flow, there's something produced self conscious thinking about it, like this is all in her head narrating and making whatever she wants because she finally can make this album of hers that she always really wanted to as she said in the album and in interviews and that's really special, the way in fin, she did a 6-5min shoutout to everyone that was part of this just naming every member of the orchestra, it's kinda like a Grammy speach, she doesn't even need to physically win shes like making this already feel like one, might be corny but like ik that that's real with how labels had treated her, this was probably the most emotional experience I had with an album, raye with a voice like that, this is once in every generation, this album really did something honestly just writing about it couldn't do, am I dramatic idrc, also she be talking in this, Im not claiming to have caught like every line but this is album of the year to me just how I feel about it, it’s kinda how I felt about wicked, in it’s emotional core, and in ur face at times, the same like comedy musical aesthetic, heartwarming and it’s not that deep but who cares It made me cry
