Addison Rae (2025)
“I first discovered Addison Rae back in 2021, deep in the global COVID lockdown era, when scrolling felt endless and pop music became pure escapism. Watching her evolve from viral personality to fully committed pop artist has honestly been kind of surreal and Addison feels like the moment it all clicks. The album leans into glossy, Y2K-inspired pop with a self-aware wink, but it never feels like a joke. There’s confidence here. The hooks are sticky, the production is sleek and nostalgic without sounding dated, and she sounds more comfortable in her voice than ever. It’s playful, flirty, a little dramatic — everything good pop should be. What makes Addison land is that it feels earned. As someone who found her music during such a weird, uncertain time in the world, hearing this level-up feels personal. It’s not just influencer pop…it’s genuinely fun, well-crafted pop music that proves she’s here for real.”

Sometimes you hear those trip-hop touches, like Ray of Light by Madonna or Porcelain by Moby. Other times it feels like a full-on 2000s pop anthem. But your mind stays hypnotized by that early 2010s nostalgic wave that Lorde gave us with Pure Heroine. But at the end of the day, those timeless roots hold up one of the best pop debut albums of our era, basically shoving in bubblegum pop’s face how interesting you can sound without coming off as pretentious or just plain mediocre. The way Addison Rae went from a cringe influencer to a high-fashion pop girl is actually something to study!!! That said… yeah, if we judge the album outside of pop, it might fall a bit short in some areas…
