JAGUAR II
Victoria Monét (2023)
“Jaguar II is a confident and captivating step forward for Victoria Monét. Her smooth vocals, retro-funk influences, and seductive R&B vibes come together effortlessly. Tracks like “On My Mama” and “Smoke” show off her charisma and versatility, while deeper cuts reveal emotional honesty and lush production. The album feels more complete and polished than its predecessor, with Monét fully owning her space as both a performer and songwriter. It’s sleek, soulful, and undeniably fun—Jaguar II proves Victoria Monét is no longer underrated, but undeniable.”

This album has a cool vibe and big energy, but it feels a bit all over the place sometimes instead of locked in like a classic R&B project. Victoria Monet sounds great and has range, and there are moments that slap and others that chill out nicely, but overall the tracklist doesn’t flow as smoothly as it could. Some songs hit hard and show her personality, while others feel like they’re trying too hard to fit different styles in one place. The transitions aren’t bad, but they don’t always make the record feel cohesive, so it ends up more like a playlist than a complete album experience. Solid tracks and production, just not consistently unforgettable.
