Martin Crane's second album as Brazos was born from the doldrums that followed the tour for 2009's Phosphorescent Blues. Where that album was inspired by an Adrienne Rich poem, Saltwater takes Moby Dick as its lofty muse, though the twittering piano, ticking woodblock, and surging choruses keep things light.
