“This was the first album I bought (on iTunes) with my own money when I was 10 years old. To say this album was pivotal to me would be an understatement. With just 12 tracks, Ariana was able to describe the kind of pain and loss she was going through at such a young age. She not only was able to tell us, but she also created a beautiful piece of work that has helped me through various struggles in my life. Every track on this album is exactly how I feel the way that I relate to people, the way that I talk to people. This album is able to describe the inner workings of what it feels like to be young and confused and not know where the ground is. As I’ve gotten older, this album has truly stood the test of time for me. In a general sense, I think this is Ariana’s best pop record (I love all her releases), only because of how significant it is in pop culture. This album is often acclaimed as one of the newest additions to the “pop bible” collection. Sonically, it draws roots from early 2000s R&B and pop while still showcasing her incredible voice and what she’s best known for. Some of her biggest hits have come off this record, and beyond that, it perfectly describes what it means to create something in times of hardship. For those reasons, I highly, highly recommend listening to thank u, next. I guarantee that you’ll find a bit of yourself in this album.”
eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead
“Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine was already a stunning exploration of love, loss, and self-discovery, but Brighter Days Ahead expands its emotional depth with six new tracks that bring hope and healing into the mix. Standouts like “Twilight Zone” explore transformation with dreamy production, while “Hampstead” delivers raw vulnerability, made even more poignant by its black-and-white music video featuring Grande’s father. Tracks like “Dandelion” and “Warm” offer a lighter, ethereal contrast to the original album’s heartbreak. Beyond the music, the 26-minute short film that accompanies the deluxe edition adds a cinematic layer to the album’s themes, blending sci-fi aesthetics with deeply personal storytelling. Grande’s signature breathy vocals, intricate harmonies, and sleek production make Brighter Days Ahead a perfect addition to Eternal Sunshine. The deluxe edition brings a sense of closure and optimism, making an already impressive album feel even more complete.”
Sweetener
“Honestly, this album has moments that slap really hard and others that feel a bit all over the place. There’s a mix of pop, R&B, trap and experimental stuff that doesn’t always hang together the smoothest, so sometimes it feels more like random vibes than a cohesive record. When it’s good, it’s really good but some tracks drag or feel kinda just… there. I also think R.E.M. being a Beyoncé demo originally (it came from an unreleased Beyoncé/Pharrell song “Wake Up” before Ari made it her own) adds an interesting backstory and makes that track hit extra hard for fans who know that history.”
eternal sunshine
“A significant step up from its predecessor, eternal sunshine is much more entertaining and upbeat. Although it comes off a bit pretentious as times, Ariana’s writing is solid and the production is her most interesting in a minute. Favs: bye, dwbua, eternal sunshine, supernatural, the boy is mine, we can’t be friends, imperfect for you Meh: ordinary things”
Dangerous Woman
“Dangerous Woman finds Ari at her best point vocally and her most confident yet. The singles are incredible but the rest ranges from great to just okay. Still one of my favorites from her. Favs: Moonlight, Dangerous Woman, Be Alright, Into You, Greedy, Everyday, Sometimes, Bad Decisions Meh: I Don’t Care, Knew Better/Forever Boy, Thinking About You”
Positions
“Positions has some of Ariana’s most introspective work, but doesn’t necessarily package it as well as it should. It maintains some of the highs but its lows are a little too low for my taste. Favs: motive, just like magic, six thirty, my hair, love language, pov Meh: west side, obvious”
thank u, next
“One of the best vocalists of our generation over trap beats?? Sign me up. I want some of whatever she was drinking when she made this. Bangers all around, the singles might even be the weaker tracks on the album. Favs: needy, bloodline, fake smile, bad idea, ghostin, in my head, break up with your girlfriend”
Sweetener
“Pharrell and Ari is not a combo I expected, but it surprisingly works pretty well? Super fun album, killer vocals as always, great production as expected. Only a couple meh songs on this one. Favs: R.E.M., everytime, breathin, no tears left to cry, goodnight n go Meh: borderline, pete davidson”
