I have always liked rare but it’s every few months I find myself coming back to this album and falling into a deep obsession with how unique it was. I no longer like it, it’s full on love. This album has always been a conversation about how it felt underwhelming at the time. I personally think this album has always deserved better because every song to me is a banger. People you know is a certified classic and masterclass in writing from the relatable concept of simply moving on. Kinda crazy to me has been the biggest grower in the 6 years since this album came out and to me sounds the most modern of the songs in this album as of right now, I deeply love it now (and I used to rate it at the bottom of the album too). Rare is a classic to me, but I find that it’s a rare opinion; if you haven’t given this album a try since 2020, I recommend giving it a second chance like I did. You might find a few songs that you didn’t like before that now sounds like they came out today. Top 3: Lose you to love me, Kinda Crazy, Souvenir (deluxe) Honorable mention: Vulnerable

Revival (Deluxe)

Revival (Deluxe)

6.0

Revival is a standout moment in Selena Gomez’s career, showcasing her growth both as an artist and as an individual. The album blends pop, R&B, and electronic influences, with tracks like “Good for You” and “Same Old Love” offering sultry, confident vibes that suit Selena’s smooth, understated vocals. While the album is cohesive and offers some undeniable highlights, it occasionally feels a bit safe or formulaic. Some songs feel like filler, lacking the emotional depth or experimentation that could have elevated the project further. However, Selena’s vulnerability and authenticity come through strongly, particularly on tracks like “Kill Em With Kindness” and “Hands to Myself.” Overall, Revival is a solid pop album with enough standout moments to make it memorable, but it’s not without its flaws. It’s clear Selena is finding her footing in this new chapter of her music career—one that’s worth watching closely.

Stars Dance (Bonus Track Version)

Stars Dance (Bonus Track Version)

4.8

Stars Dance marks Selena Gomez’s full embrace of the dance-pop world, stepping away from her teen pop roots with a more mature sound. With catchy, upbeat tracks like “Come & Get It” and “Slow Down,” the album radiates a carefree energy, showcasing Selena’s smooth vocals over shimmering electronic beats. While the album shines in its infectious hooks and dancefloor anthems, it occasionally feels uneven. Some songs lack the depth or emotional connection to make them stand out in the long run. However, Selena’s growth as an artist is evident, and there’s a palpable confidence in the way she owns each track. Stars Dance isn’t a perfect album, but it’s a solid and fun debut that set the stage for Selena’s evolution as both a singer and performer. It’s a good balance of pop fun and personal growth, even if a few tracks don’t fully land.
