Addison Rae (2025)
“surface-level on purpose”
“this album is a full pop gag done right, glossy, playful, and self-aware, leaning into femininity and artifice without overexplaining itself. it doesn’t chase depth or reinvention; it commits to vibe, confidence, and aesthetic, and that commitment is what makes it work.”

Sometimes you hear those trip-hop touches, like Ray of Light by Madonna or Porcelain by Moby. Other times it feels like a full-on 2000s pop anthem. But your mind stays hypnotized by that early 2010s nostalgic wave that Lorde gave us with Pure Heroine. But at the end of the day, those timeless roots hold up one of the best pop debut albums of our era, basically shoving in bubblegum pop’s face how interesting you can sound without coming off as pretentious or just plain mediocre. The way Addison Rae went from a cringe influencer to a high-fashion pop girl is actually something to study!!! That said… yeah, if we judge the album outside of pop, it might fall a bit short in some areas…
