Kendrick Lamar (2024)
“Album Review #87”
“LISTENED: 5/20/2026 Represents a victory lap after what Kendrick felt like to be a win against a big public rap battle back-and-forth with another rapper by the name of “Drake”, with Kendrick highlighting west-coast sounds, dance moves, features, and a special pride in what he’s accomplished, where he comes from, and his thoughts at the moment. The lyrics are nice and complex, showing good lyricism and expression, as well as few tracks sounding really nice when it focuses its catchy hip-hop beats. But for me, while this album built a great soundscape that I could enjoy, I can’t personally resonate with it, since these prominent west-coast sounds don’t appeal to my origins in the slightest, preventing me from appreciating them fully. Not bad at all, just not for me.”
