Vie feels like Doja Cat time-traveling straight into the ‘80s and honestly, as someone who loves that era, I was locked in. The synths shimmer, the basslines bounce, and there’s this glossy, neon-coated atmosphere that feels inspired by vintage pop and funk without turning into full-on cosplay. What I appreciate most is how she balances nostalgia with her signature weirdness. There are moments that feel like they could sit next to a late-night radio classic from 1985, but then she flips the cadence or throws in a sly lyric that reminds you this is still very much Doja. The hooks are strong, the production is tight, and the album has that cinematic, roller-rink-at-midnight vibe I can’t resist. It’s not flawless at all, but there are a couple tracks blur together sonically — but as a fan of ‘80s textures and bold pop personalities, Vie hits that sweet spot between retro fantasy and modern edge.
