Olivia Rodrigo (2023)
“Guts by Olivia Rodrigo is the album that fully converted me into a fan. I liked Sour, but Guts? This is where everything sharpens. The songwriting is wittier, the emotions are louder, and the confidence feels earned rather than accidental. The pop-rock energy is explosive — distorted guitars, chaotic bridges, and hooks that feel like they’re about to combust, but what really got me was how self-aware it all is. She leans into insecurity, jealousy, awkwardness, and growing pains without trying to make herself look perfect. It’s dramatic, messy, and brutally honest in a way that feels intentional and controlled. As a music fan, I love when an artist levels up instead of playing it safe, and Guts does exactly that. It’s bold, cathartic, and way more layered than I expected — the kind of album that doesn’t just impress you, it makes you commit.”

Some of her best songs on here and most well produced but a lot of slow and somber ones at the same time which are great from a vocal aspect from Olivia but can drag on a bit at times. The pop-rock sound she goes for on a good few of the tracks work so well and really brings a great energy with them too. Top songs are ‘all-american bitch’ ‘bad idea right?’ ‘vampire’ ‘get him back!’
