GUTS
“pop sensation secures her place as a generational talent”
GUTS
“On 'Guts' she avoids all the second-album pitfalls with her most ambitious, intimate, and messy songs yet”

“The pop ingenue’s songwriting has never been sharper or more devastating as she combines new wave and post-punk sensibilities with her near compulsive knack for hooks.”

“The pop star’s third album is a heartbreaking account of an intense romance and its demise. Its mood is perfectly reflected in the music, and her evolution as a songwriter is a sight to behold.”

“Olivia Rodrigo continues to prove that nobody captures the emotional chaos of young adulthood quite like she does on You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl In Love. The album feels like reading pages from a diary that were never meant to be shared, balancing the excitement of romance with the insecurity, self-doubt, and overthinking that can quietly exist beneath the surface. What makes this record stand out is Olivia’s ability to turn deeply personal moments into songs that feel universal. Her songwriting remains sharp and conversational, making every lyric sound like a thought you’ve had but never knew how to put into words. The production blends vulnerable ballads with energetic pop-rock moments, giving the album plenty of variety while maintaining a cohesive emotional narrative. The strongest tracks hit hard because they don’t offer easy answers. Instead, Olivia embraces the contradictions of being in love while still feeling lost, anxious, or uncertain. That honesty is what makes the album so relatable and rewarding. While a few songs don’t reach the same emotional heights as the best moments on the record, the overall listening experience is compelling from start to finish. You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl In Love is another reminder that Olivia Rodrigo’s greatest strength isn’t just writing breakup songs. It’s capturing the complicated feelings that exist before, during, and after love. It’s vulnerable, self-aware, and filled with the kind of emotional detail that keeps fans coming back for another listen.”

“Guts by Olivia Rodrigo is the album that fully converted me into a fan. I liked Sour, but Guts? This is where everything sharpens. The songwriting is wittier, the emotions are louder, and the confidence feels earned rather than accidental. The pop-rock energy is explosive — distorted guitars, chaotic bridges, and hooks that feel like they’re about to combust, but what really got me was how self-aware it all is. She leans into insecurity, jealousy, awkwardness, and growing pains without trying to make herself look perfect. It’s dramatic, messy, and brutally honest in a way that feels intentional and controlled. As a music fan, I love when an artist levels up instead of playing it safe, and Guts does exactly that. It’s bold, cathartic, and way more layered than I expected — the kind of album that doesn’t just impress you, it makes you commit.”
SOUR
“Sour by Olivia Rodrigo still feels like a punch to the gut in the best way. As a music fan, what grabbed me immediately was how raw it is…the heartbreak isn’t polished or poetic in a distant way; it’s messy, dramatic, and very real. The pop-punk explosions hit hard, the ballads ache, and the songwriting has that diary-entry quality that makes you feel like you shouldn’t be listening… but you can’t look away. Tracks swing between rage and vulnerability so naturally that it mirrors how heartbreak actually feels. It’s not perfect! But a few songs blend into the same emotional tone but as a debut, it’s bold and culturally loud. Sour captured a specific kind of young heartbreak and made it universal, and that’s something you can’t fake.”

“Solid album from Olivia Rodrigo with some absolute bangers but also some low and uninteresting points on this album as well. The upbeat songs have a very early 2000’s sound to them which goes so well with Olivia’s delivery and lyrics. A standout is the song ‘honeybee’ which has unreal production and instrumentals and also top tier vocals from Olivia as well. Top songs are ‘drop dead’ ‘maggots for brains’ ‘honeybee’ ‘u + me = <3’ ‘my way’ ‘expectations’”
GUTS
“Some of her best songs on here and most well produced but a lot of slow and somber ones at the same time which are great from a vocal aspect from Olivia but can drag on a bit at times. The pop-rock sound she goes for on a good few of the tracks work so well and really brings a great energy with them too. Top songs are ‘all-american bitch’ ‘bad idea right?’ ‘vampire’ ‘get him back!’”
GUTS
“Genuinely one of my favorite contemporary pop albums of all time. The definition of quality over quantity, every song hits in its own way. It’s a super easy re-listen with incredible instrumentals and freeing vocals. Olivia had established herself as one of the stars of our generation. Favs: all”
SOUR
“Really good album from Olivia Rodrigo. As a 24yo guy, I can still listen to this and find the value in it even considering its teenage girls breakup album. For her first full length album is great. Top songs are ‘drivers license’ ‘deja vu‘ ‘good 4 u’ ‘jealousy, jealousy’”

“I’m typically not the biggest fan of this type of music however, I like this one. The songs have a retro feel with the use of synths but they are still modern. Some songs are just melodically beautiful and fit Olivia’s voice soo well. Good album overall”
