JackFloyd reviewed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West 3mo

8.8

If Kanye was to have one album to represent his entire discography, I would vote MBDTF as the representation of who he is as an artist. — This album is so good it makes me want to cry. I am such a fan of this production… Words can't even describe the different waves of emotion that come over me while listening to all of the different courses and messages that each song brings. It comes to no one’s surprise, but my favorite tracks were Devil in a New Dress, Power, So Appalled, and Runaway: with the more experiences in life you have gone through, the more appreciation you can have for some of these songs in the album. But overall if you take it all at face value and if you just listen to the music for what it is rather than what the speaker is trying to convey, it would still be an awesome album. I love Kanye.

JackFloyd reviewed JESUS IS KING by Kanye West 3mo

9.0

Kanye’s boldness after Ye(2018) makes this album worthy of its praise. — “They gon be the first ones to judge me/ Make it feel like nobody love me” I love this album for so many reasons. Kanye West publicly released a gospel album right after absolutely knocking it dead center out of the park with his self titled Ye(2018) I mean cmon. He calls out the lack of acceptance from certain Christian communities during his transition to Christ, he explains the reasons for leaning into the love Jesus Christ has for all of us, he even promotes his new school that was still in the works which is called Donda Academy. I think it's also really important to mention here that he was Chance The Rapper’s lifeline to mainstream music in his last years of relevance. All in all this album is truly something special: its gutsy, loud, and it stands out as a message that through Christ, no matter what you have been through, you may be saved.

JackFloyd reviewed Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd 3mo

7.5

Please don’t crucify me for this take. — If this album could be described in one word, I would call it ambiguous. You take 5 songs and stretch it out to be over 40 minutes long and you get "Wish You Were Here”. I am not saying I am not a fan of the music, and I definitely don't subscribe to the ideology that the music Pink Floyd produces only gets good after 5 minutes, because that is simply not the case: The songs each have their own meaning, with most of the production taking place during the Vietnam War many of their songs require historical context to fully appreciate what they are saying. I won't do a deep dive into the songs themselves because I actually do not care for the songs themselves that much but I will say that if you have 45 minutes laying around then I would for sure say that getting yourself “comfortably numb” and listening start to finish to this album wouldn't be a bad way to pass up some free time. Upon seeing that this album is ranked second or third all time on this platform I took a moment to think about whether or not I wasnt looking deep enough into the songs and the message… But I will not digress, I stand on what I said, but it does not come as a surprise to me to see that the album is ranked so high

JackFloyd reviewed Led Zeppelin IV (Remastered) by Led Zeppelin 3mo

9.2

This album comes close to perfection. — My first review, one of the all time rock and roll albums that defines the 70s: the fast paced rhythm contrasted with the slow and more thought out beats in this album make it worthy of its rating. My personal favorite on this album has got to be Going to California, the melody combined with the incredible play from guitarist Jimmy Page makes the song so moving. If you are not familiar with Jimmy Page then may this review be your introduction to him and his supreme talent when it comes to performing on this album. There are no complaints with this one, the review is warranted based off of the perfection that comes with each song, and it's just short of 10 because of there only being eight songs total on the albums release.
