Wish You Were Here
“A stunning 50th-anniversary edition of Wish You Were Here is filled with heroes and ghosts, as well as demos, outtakes, and official bootleg recordings”
Wish You Were Here
“Each Sunday, Pitchfork takes an in-depth look at a significant album from the past, and any record not in our archives is eligible. Today we revisit a timeless classic rock album from 1975, a mournful, emotionally charged mood piece that grounded a historically cosmic band.”
Animals
“It begins somewhere for everyone. There's the first song that grabs your attention and seizes the imagination, the first album that demonstrates such overall strength and originality that it becomes something more for most listeners, just as there is the first kiss that awakens the soul and forever changes the vision. I admit without qualm that it began for me with *Animals*. My brother was in co”
The Final Cut
“This may be art rock’s crowning masterpiece, but it is also something more. With The Final Cut, Pink Floyd caps its career in classic form, and leader Roger Waters — for whom the group has long since become little more than a pseudonym — finally steps out from behind the "Wall" where last we left […]”
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
“They say legendry lysergic prophet Timothy Leary used to dose the drinks at parties with LSD, but it might not have been necessary. By the tail end of the 1960s, something was already in the air (and water) marking a radical cultural shift; recreational drugs were just one part of the anti-establishment equation. By 1967, year of the Summer of Love, the counterculture made a valiant bid to supplan”
The Dark Side of the Moon
“Each Sunday, Pitchfork takes an in-depth look at a significant album from the past, and any record not in our archives is eligible. Today, we revisit one of the biggest albums of all time: its origins, its impact, and why it remains a permanent fixture in the rock canon.”
The Dark Side of the Moon
“Your dad has a shirt with this cover. I’ve felt higher listening to this album than a gram of mushrooms. Experience drugs without feeling like a pool noodle the next day. It’s really hard to put into words. Most of the songs transcend from floating on a cloud to sounding like the stars are colliding. Between the seamless transitions and returning refrains throughout the album, it sounds like one big song. On The Run is the only outlier. For an album that came out in ‘73, this is the only outdated song. It’s just doesn’t feel natural. Beautiful background/lead vocals, excellent drumming/guitar playing, with strong chorus. These song are just monumental. I can’t believe I can listen to this whenever I want.”
Obscured By Clouds
“Me personally, one of my favourite albums by pink Floyd besides TDSOTM and meddle. An essential album to their discography in my opinion and if you get on with pink Floyd you WILL like this album.”
Animals
“Floyd’s best album they got. Really beautiful sound in each song. Some might complain that songs are too long, but I think this album and its length is perfect. Overall, amazing album”
Wish You Were Here
“better than dark side of the moon argue with the wall”
The Dark Side of the Moon
“c’est une folie de faire des choses aussi agréables à écouter, le niveau de composition c’est vrm trop. seul défaut de l’album c’est d’avoir juste pris une partie de time pour faire breathe (in the air), mais sinon faut vous branler les pink”
The Dark Side of the Moon
“Certainly a very influential album, and one of the first truly cohesive works. It’s very solid all around, but only a few standout tracks”
The Dark Side of the Moon
“Really great and iconic album. Would be higher if it wasn’t there second best album. Lots of great memories with this album”
The Dark Side of the Moon
“i means it’s great walked out of the antique store with this vinyl in my hand and every old head said “ what a great album””
