“This song is probably the most country-ish song of the album especially because it belongs to the story-telling genre. This song is about being pushed into adulthood too early and carrying responsibilities that weren’t supposed to be yours, especially because of where you come from. It’s Beyoncé looking back at the cost of success and everything she had to drag with her to get there ever since destiny’s child or even girls tyme. The title refers to the “carriages” as emotional and historical weight that never really goes away.”
